Support Free Speech

What a dreadful event yesterday in Paris.  Awful.

It is akin to someone shooting the much loved cartoonist here in Darwin - Colin Wicking - who is well renowned for his irreverent Christian cartoons, often around Easter time.

While definitely seen by some as anti-Christian, they are I think an opportunity taken to take the mickey out of people.

You do not have to agree with the sentiments but please respect the option of free speech, especially in a pluralist, secular society.

Satire is wit, cutting yes..... but wit.

The world has responded with many more cartoons, mostly supporting free speech, and quite a lot very much to the point.  I have not seen too many outright anti-muslim.

France certainly has a strong minority that is muslim and might feel hurt over the cartoons but surely this is over the top.

There are some excellent cartoons here -

and I particularly like this one by David Pope.
